Kliszewski Glass is the collaborative effort of husband and wife team Bob and Laurie Kliss. Both artists are graduates of the prestigious Pilchuck Glass School and have been involved with the glass business ever since. For over 15 years, the artists have produced a line of glass art that has strived to enrich the lives of art lovers everywhere. The Kliss’ take pleasure in each handmade item they produce, and wish continued enjoyment to those who have included them in their art- filled world. As natural colorists, they are particularly intrigued by the medium’s ability to convey pure color. They create sculptural glass objects with a playful use of color, form, texture, and shape.
Bob assembles the colors and shapes for the base of each drawing and fuses the base with secondary color elements. He then blows the vessel, continually heating and re-heating the piece up to temperatures of 1000 degrees. He melts and fuses the glass, working with it until it reaches its final desired shape. He then applies brightly colored lip wrap to the vessel’s rim, which completes the piece. After cooling, he signs and dates each piece.
